My Dad John (Jack) Pletnik went into training to be an aircraft mechanic. He was from Youngstown Ohio and served in Watton England in 1943-44?. He was very creative and came home with lots of Calligraphy that he did while there. He also brought home a hand forged aluminum model of a B-17 that I still have. He also hand forged a pair of small figure Ice skates that I used when he came back home. He was a great ice skater and I have fond memories of his lessons. In looking through some of his things I ran across a govt. accomodation he received for designing a "Universal Propeller Lift" to aid in the quick change of propellers.
I would like to learn more about Watton and especially anything about the maintenance division there. I will try to scan some of the many pics I found.
